Woohoo -- got tagged by Tiffers and felt like I abstained from xanga long enough to possibly start blogging again. We'll see how long this lasts!!!!

A thought about xanga to start off......

- I like reading blogs but I don't like posting blogs. It's a nice way to see how people are doing and what's running through their minds which is good. But I don't want to hear and learn stuff about my friends through public diaries! I want to hear it from themselves! That's why I don't like blogging - if you have to learn stuff about me through a blog (or if you want to learn more about me) we should be TALKING more -- call me! :)

Rules of the Game: Post 5 Weird and/or Random facts about yourself, then at the end list the names of 5 people who are next in line to do this. Also leave a post on their xanga to let these people know.

5 Things About Me

1) i like talking

- realized recently that I'm really starting to dislike chatting online, and really enjoy having conversations with people over the phone or in person. even though i do go on msn almost every day, it's a weird habit since I don't really chat with people and if I msg (or get msg'd) I usually try to see if they have time to talk on the phone instead. it's so much more personal and i really enjoy having one-on-one conversations with ppl :)

2) I love babies and kids

- I really really really love babies and kids. i find most ppl either love 'em, or are the type that wonder if they'll ever have a kid. part of me finds them funny that they're little people in training, and another part of me is amazed at how we were all babies and how much of an impact their environment and nuturing is. i also love kids cuz they're the most honest people you'll ever meet, they arent jaded, and they know how to enjoy life (wish all people were like that).

3) I like celebrity gossip

- every time i go to the grocery or shopper's drugmart I gotta grab Us Weekly to get my dose of celebrity gossip. maybe I got this from my mom, but something fascinates me about celebrities' personal lives, fashion disasters, and love lives. e.g. Is Kirsten's Love Blooming for Orlando? or Brangelina to Wed!

4) I love people

- i find all people amazing and i love them because of that. if anything, even if i may not get along with someone i love stepping back, and analyzing people and their actions. it's really interesting and sometimes helps me understand where people are coming from and understanding their perspective (even if i don't agree with it). i've probably analyzed YOU -- heehee.

5) I like looking at ads

- one way i like to relax when i come home to ajax on the weekends is "reading" weekly ads. we get the community newspaper every friday and i'll spend 5 mins flipping through that, but another 20 minutes flipping through all the ads. i have probably been doing this since i was young -- i love the colours, pictures and ofcourse finding must-buy deals (pick of the week, $0.97 Banana Nut Cereal at NoFrills). i would love to go on price-is-right since i am always up to date with the fair market value of most consumer goods :) My fav ads are: Future Shop, No Frills, and shoppers.

I tag anyone who reads this!

What better way to unnwind from a gruelling couple weeks of studying than.... KARAOKE!!!

So, believe it or not, the day before the CKE I was studying at home and then just had the sudden urge to pop in my latest karaoke dvd, and sung a few tunes. A little bit of Ursher and Britney helped take my mind of the studying and it's kinda like my therapy where I can just go crazy and let it all out......Even tho I'm no Pavorotti, it's still sooo fun to sing (and sometimes dance)!! I guess it all started when I went to HK to visit my dad a long long time ago, and that was when I was first introduced to it. It was sooo cool, and I'd miss it whenever I came back to T.O. until it caught on here a few year's later along with bubble tea (taiwan represent!).

And there's this new thing called MOVIE-OK, where you can act out your favourite scenes!!! Like, if you always wanted to be Rose from Titanic and say to Leonardo that you think you're flying, then just select the scene and go! Those crazy Japanese ppl with their karaoke, and lap pillows! So funny tho. Anyways, whenever you're up for some K-OK you know who to call! My goal is to sing with all my friends atleast once, so if I haven't sung with you, you're on my hit list (*ah-hem* Tiffany Yau).

I think we should start this super big band with anyone who has enthusiam! (a penchant for singing is not necessary).

For example, we'll have:

The soulful sounds of Mr. JoeP YiuP. This musical genious knows how to play the drums, guitar, and piano (yes, he's still single ladies), but the most powerful instrument is his voice.

Favourite songs include: My Happy Ending (Avril Lavigne), Show me the meaning of being lonely (BSB), How Great (Chris Tomlin), and Cold Hard Beeach (ask joe).

Next, we have the incomparable DJ SMOOOOTH Operator. Known for both her wacky and 'takin care of bidness' attitude, she has what it takes to get the crowd pumpin with tunes like 'Hey Ya', or swoon the boys with songs like 'Fallin'. She is also a Bgurl but has retired since she doesn't want to be type-cast as "that breakdancing girl".

Favourite songs: If I ain't got you, Dip it low, Wannabe, Bboy Stance

Here, we have one of the backup dancers by the name of JP. Growing up in the mean city of Mississauga, he had lived a tough life and has dealt with many hardships. He releases his pent up teen angst in the form of dance, and once the beats come on, it is chaos. With his unorthodox style, he has required the special training from such sensei's as DJ SMoovie and DJ Big Boris.

Next we have Mr. Derek "here's lookin' at you" Chu. As one of the youngest members of the group, he provides both energy and a knack for providing those "gunshot and wink" poses when it's most needed. He doesn't really dance, but he's one of those "quiet" dancers. Can also bust out his vocal's for songs such as Take My Breath Away and Toxic. Derek's first solo song will be with his close friend rosie o'donnell singing the song "it takes two".

And finally.....

After many years of waiting.....

The debut of one of the most anticipated karaok'ers of 2005....

TiffY

While claiming she'll never be caught singing, she was actually practicing secretly everyday in the shower until the perfect opportunity came to take over the likes of britney, jessica, and alicia keys. An avid singer since the age of 3, TiffY can sing in either English, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Foblish ("ruin sorbees" ah). That, combined with her "tee-hee" personality make her a force to be recogned with. Britney who?

HAPPY BERTDAY TIFF'S!!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!! Hope everyone is having a really good holiday season and is spending alot of time with your family and loved ones! Just came back from Xmas dinner at my grandma's house and it always feels good to be there. I was raised by my grandma when I was younger and I grew up in that house since I came back from vancouver in about grade 2 (wow, 14 years ago). After school, I'd walk home to my grandma's house and just hang out with her until my mom finished work and picked me and my sis up. She'd always have food ready for us when we got there and I loved how she cut the top off grapes, and peel the membrane part off the oranges and grapefruits! so tasty!!! Now she's 87 years old and her age is catching up with her. She doesn't have alot of energy now and seldom ventures outside of the house (where she lives with my uncle, aunt and 2 older cousins). However, she IS planning to check out my condo downtown and it's such a big deal whenever my grandma leaves the house that I'm really happy that she wants to see my place  but i told her to tell me in advance before she comes so I can clean up....and she said it should ALWAYS be clean. It's funny how even though you can always predict what grandma's and mom's are going to say, you still love to hear them say it! My grandma also commented on my breakout of pimples on my face and told me to eat lots of fruits and wash my face more (take note). And she usually mentions how I am too skinny and need to eat more and how my mom doesn't feed me enough. How can anyone argue with a grandma?! They're just so much more knowledgable than us and are always right even if you don't think they are. If it wasnt for your grandma, your parents wouldnt be born, and you wouldn't exist!!!

I mentioned to Alla the other day how I feel bad for parents because they must feel so lonely once their kids move out and move on with their lives -- especially in the case of mothers. Luckily for me Alla wasn't in the emotional state that I was in (for once) and she had a positive outlook on the situation and told me that now is the best time to enjoy the company of your parents. The simple reason for her statement, which I didn't understand when she first said it, was because our parents are still at the age where they are healthy. So enjoy all the time you can with your folks, not only during xmas but all the time!! Some of us may take our parents for granted but I think that's a mistake. They're one of the few people who truly love us no matter what and give meaning to the term unconditional love, so we really should appreciate it all year round and not only during christmas when you receive your present (or red packet in some cases). When I think back at how my parents got me truly believing in Santa Claus it just reminds me of how much they love me. I remember when we were on vacation one year, we were staying at a hotel on Christmas eve and I was wondering how Santa would find me if i wasn't at home! But surely enough the next morning, Santa somehow was able to break into our car and leave my presents there. My mom used to write with her non-writing (left) hand when she's write us a note from Santa and when I asked her why Santa's writing is so messy, she said it was because he was writing it while he was going down the chimney, or on his bumpy sleighride. That was so good! I dunno why I'm so emotional these days but it's good. Everything is put back in perspective and all this work/cke stuff just gets demagnified. Hope you guys are having a great xmas! My sis is coming back from NYC tmrw! Won't xanga till after cke's! See yah!

Super busy trying to study and with the xmas season here, lots of time will be spent eating, sleeping and study....(in that priority). Last week of work has been good since I've been unassigned in the office and hiding on other floors so I don't get bothered/distracted from studying. I'm in a partner-type office right now in the tax department and it's awesome -- amazing how you have to wait 10 years or so to get one of these -- meh.

Speaking for the holidays!!! Don't know what to get your dad, brother or boyfriend for Christmas? Why not spoil them with one of the greatest inventions to come out of Japan since sushi and Nintendo -- a Lap Pillow!!!

Japanese toy maker Trane Co's managing director Makoto Igarashi rests his head atop his creation called the 'lap pillow,' a polyurethane pillow shaped like a kneeling woman from the waist-down in Tokyo December 15, 2004. The pillows, targeted at single men in their 20s and 30s, are available for $90 with a choice of red or black skirt. (Yuriko Nakao/Reuters)

Finely crafted out of a comfortable, yet durable polyurethane material, this pillow shaped like a kneeling woman is the perfect gift for the special man in your life. Available in a red or black skirt, the lap pillow is sure to make all of your friends jealous and wish that you loved them enough to get them one too! All this for the amazing low price of only $90! That's right. And if you order right now, we'll throw in another lap pillow for free! Why not share the gift of comfort this Christmas? What better way to say "I love you" than with a lap pillow. Get them before it's too late!

(Look at how relaxed these satisfied customers are!)

Haha, I love marketing! The above was just me trying to sell the lap pillow to you (as if you need the convincing -- who wouldn't want it!?!!) Here are some highlights from the actual article:

- Care was taken with details such as the softness of the thighs, panty lines on the pillow's "backside" and wrinkles in the lap of the skirt so as to make the pillow look and feel as real as possible.

-"We thought our main customers would be men in their 20s, but even men in their 60s are buying it,"

-"I think this may be good for single men, but it could cause trouble for someone who is married," said Shingo Shibata, a 27-year-old company employee browsing at a toy store which sells the pillow.

Sayoooonara! Oyasumi Nasai!!

Who need's a real education when you can just buy your degree for you...or your cat for that matter!

"The Pennsylvania attorney general's office Monday sued an online university for allegedly selling bogus academic degrees — including an MBA awarded to a cat.

Trinity Southern University in Texas, a cellular company and the two brothers who ran them are accused of misappropriating Internet addresses of the state Senate and more than 60 Pennsylvania businesses to sell fake degrees and prescription drugs by spam e-mail, according to the lawsuit.

Investigators paid $299 for a bachelor's degree for Colby Nolan — a deputy attorney general's 6-year-old black cat — claiming he had experience including baby-sitting and retail management.

The school, which offers no classes, allegedly determined Colby Nolan's resume entitled him to a master of business administration degree; a transcript listed the cat's course work and 3.5 grade-point average."
